Perfect Family Night In: Faith Based Edition

On the journey to finding self and purpose you realize that importance of not only growing your own faith but  your children’s and partners faith as well. Finding activities that help grow the faith of your entire family can be challenging. So I decided to give you 5 things you can do  to help grow the faith of the entire family.

  1. Take a day of rest. or Sabbath

Exodus 20:8-11 ESV
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Isaiah 58:13-14 ESV
“If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

As you can see taking a day of rest is biblical and it’s a great opportunity to take a day to be intentional about spending time with God as a family.

2. Start your day with reading a scripture together as family,
and then follow up with a discussion on what you just read. This helps to apply the scripture to your day to day  lives. The bible I like to use is the NIV study bible  you can find it on Amazon HERE. The new international version is a great bible for beginners because it gives you the biblical context without all the “thy’s”  and “thous.”

If you would like to spice things up with your bible you can also get a custom bible that fits your personality. This a great way to get your children to gain an interest in bible reading. A company that does great custom bibles is Kingfolk Co. you can find them HERE.

3. Play a game as a family that helps to grow your faith.
A good faith based game is Word Teasers: Faith based conversation starters. It's a great way to have those hard conversations with the family and adding biblical context to it. You can find Word Teasers on amazon HERE.

4. Read devotionals that are related to a specific topic or challenge your family is currently facing.
Pick someone in the family each week to read the devotional to keep everyone involved. Devotionals offer scripture with real life synopsis as explanations. Some devotionals I love come from Faith box. Faith box helps to grow your faith by delivering spiritually enriched christian devotional and exclusive do-good products right to your front door every month. So even when you don’t know what to say or where to start with bible reading and spending time with God has a family Faith box has you covered. You can check out Faith box HERE.

5. Lastly end your night with a good family movie that helps to grow your faith.
Finding good clean entertainment with good messaging behind it, that was entertaining enough that captured the attention of the entire family was a challenge. But then I came across Crossflix. Crossflix offers unlimited faith based entertainment for the entire family. You can check Crossflix out HERE.

I hope you are blessed and encouraged by these resources. Let me know in the comments if you implemented any of these practices with your family. For more resources and daily inspiration download Jordan's Journey app today. Available in the app store and google play.

Thats all for now.
